Rah Digga - This Ain't No Lil' Kid Rap (Video)

Rah Digga left rap 10 years ago to pursue film editing (she went back to school to do so and continues to do this as a career) and raise her daughter. She only got back in the game after some finessing from one of rap's well known producers, Nottz, to make a few songs for an EP. That turned into more and next thing you know they were coaxing her to release an album. Together, they made Classic (coming 9/14 on Raw Koncept) and this is the first video for her single 'This Ain't No Lil' Kid Rap'....the message is pretty clear.

Artist Spotlight: Prince and Soufside

In 2009, Prince and Soufside were a part of the group GS Boyz and their hit single "Stanky Legg" was receiving mainstream success across the country. Now, fast forward to 2010, Prince and Soufside decided to disband the group and form a duo. Prince and Soufside recently stopped by Po Politickin to discuss why they decided to leave the GS Boyz, rebranding themselves as a duo, and how they complement each other styles.

Po: Thanks for stopping by Po Politickin. For our first question, describe a day in the life or SoufSide and Prince.

P & S: A day in the life wit soufside and prince will be, alot of music being played in the background, the phone none stop ringing, a whole lot of movement, we really never just sit in one spot!

Po: Last year, your former group The GS Boyz had a hit single with “Stanky Legg”. Could you discuss the reason(s) for why you decided the leave the group and form a duo? After gaining a certain level of success, was it difficult leaving the group?

P & S: We really just wanted to take the matters in to our own hands and run with it, being in a group you have to keep it one hundred. People wasn’t really talking how they felt about certain things they was just on the wagon, and it should be like that. Everyone should be able to work or do something, and in our eyes we was doing a lot of it, so we did what we had to do, and that was leave them there and let gsboyz be prince and soufside since everyone really just knew us two anyway.

Po: As a duo, how do your complement each other styles? Is there any current hip hop duo that you would compare yourselves to?

P & S: Boosie and Webbie is two rappers we look at, something like how baby and wayne feed off of each other. We both always worked good with one another when it comes to this music and we got this on lock.

Po: I read that you are focused on re-branding your image as duo. Could you discuss your plans for doing this?

P & S: Soufside branded his name perfect on stankylegg, it pops off the song saying his name. everyone knows who he be ... just like how he stated on the song. All we have to do this time around is stay humble, drop some more hit tracks, keep dropping them mixtapes and stay putting the city on the map. Once you pass all those then you have something to work with.

Po: Begin in the industry since 2005, what would you consider your most valuable lesson learned? What advice would you give to aspiring artists?

P & S: Don't forget who helped you get your success, and stay prayed to the boss man!

Po: Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate. Any words for your fans?

P & S: We want to thank our fans for their continued support. Follow us on twitter at @OHBOYPRINCE, @SOUFSIDEHL on myspace http://www.myspace.com/gsboyz, and request our latest single she soufside and prince "She the Best" (dougie fresh) at your local radio station.

Artist Spotlight: Greenspan

Po Politickin sat down with Baltimore artist Greenspan to discuss the origin of his name, being a underrated local rapper with one of the tightest live shows, and his upcoming project "Got Green 2".

Po: Sup homie, thanks for stopping by Po Politickin. For the first question, can your discuss your name? Are you related to the economist Alan Greenspan? Lol

GS: I feel that art allows you to be creative with your identity. Back in 2003 when I was in the process of creating a company and a brand, I was also learning about the Federal Reserve of the United States. The name Greenspan just stuck. Also GREEN is progressive, moving forward, --> like GREEN-Light. GREEN = Getting Rid of Each & Everything Negative.

Po: I read that you are an underrated local rapper with one of the tightest live shows in the city (Baltimore). What’s your opinion on this?

GS: Well, I'm appreciative to anyone who enjoys my music and my live show. People don't owe me to like my music, you feel me? Underrated...people like what they like. If they haven't heard of Greenspan, then there's more work for us to do as far as exposure and promo... That's how I feel.

Po: How would you describe yourself as a artist? What separates you from the 1,000,000,000,000 emcees out there?

GS: Sophisticated and Progressive. I'm all about moving forward and smiling :) So if anything is hindering my progress or has potential to make me unhappy, I leave it alone. What separates me is my honesty and my perspective on everything I speak on. I may have lived and experience something similar to another person, but what I learned from the situation can be different and that's how I approach music when I'm expressing myself...
And I have a fantastic smile too! :)

Po: I notice you have a new projects dropping soon "Got Green 2". Could you tell us more about it? Any other projects on deck?

GS: Got Green 2 is my 3rd release and the best 1 so far (in my opinion). I think GG2 allows listeners to experience a transition. I'm more focused on the creative process of entire songs and compositions rather than just a hot verse, you feel me...

Po: What are 5 things you cannot live without?

GS: My Mac Book Pro!!!

Po: Where do you see your music career in 2015?

GS: The cover of Rolling Stone... Lord Willing

Po: Once again, thanks for coming thru. Any words for your fans?

GS: Live Life and Luv it!! There's no time for "What if's." GreenspanMusic.com

Artist Spotlight: Mark Milly

Po Politickin caught up with Baltimore emcee Mark Milly to dicuss his Hip-Hop based lifestyle brand Young Hustlaz Gettin' Money, his influences, and his latest release "F%@kMarkMilly-The Brief Tape".

Po: Thanks for stopping by Po Politickin? For our first question, describe a day in the life of Mark Milly.

MM: Wow! well, everyday is different. LOL But typically wake up ((do all that morning
'clean people' shit, ya know? wash face, brush teeth etc.)) <-- too much detail right? But umm... majority of my day would be spent on my computer, networking, promoting, editing videos, writing songs etc. Unless i'm out getting to the money. So all in all a day in the life of ME is pretty much just busy-busy-busy! work work work! Sometimes I barely eat... video shoots, studio, events.. being a boss.... the life I chose... *shrugs*

Po: I read that you are an entrepreneur who has dreams of operating a media empire? Could you discuss? How are you cultivating your business side?

MM: Yes, Yes that I am. I have 'up & coming empire' #1 -- Y.H.G.M (Young Hustlaz Gettin Money) which is a Hip-Hop based lifestyle brand. Y.H.G.M. (Young Hustlaz Gettin' Money) embraces the culture of young, hard working individuals who are successful, through all outlets; music, clothing, community events, blogging, web based social networks to name a few. Y.H.G.M. (Young Hustlaz Gettin Money) is also the blueprint for Hustlaz in every aspect from the street to the office and is the new definition of HARD WORK! Music is our Hustle whats yours? ( via http://www.youtube.com/yhgm1 ). Branches that stem from Y.H.G.M include YHGM films http://yhgmfilms.blogspot.com/ , YHGM South, clothing, a record pool etc etc. I just want to cover many areas of the entertainment industry because theres not much money to be made in music anymore.

My second up & coming company "The Incredible Creation" is a creative venture that host an array of artistic abilities, facilitating in creating, building and supporting the dreams of those artist invested in this artistic powerhouse. Joining together all facets of creative talents under one unifying brand who's mission is to set the standard of being incredible though fostering the growth and development of its members personally, professionally, emotionally and by using the wealth of resources at its disposal, a unique perspective, an outlet to freely express themselves/cause through use of their various artistic talents. The Incredible Creation in essence is a family full of different talents outlets and outlets all connected by a sincere desire to touch and inspire the world through their gifts.

Po: How would you describe yourself as a artist? Who were some of your influences?

MM: As an I artist I believe that i'm very versatile and experimental. I like to create and play around with different ideas & concepts. I'm 'incredible' to say the least and have even been called a genius by some *shrugs*. I haven't even reached my full potential and I know that I have a long way to go. I'm determined to be one of the best artists the world has seen. Some of my influences were Kriss Kross, Master P & his No Limit empire, Jay-Z, Cash Money, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Michael Jackson and a list of others

Po: You are rapper, producer, and a designer. Could you tell us how you balance each career?

MM: LOL I'll let the "rapper" part slide.... I don't make beats but I am a producer in a sense.... 'executive producer' + many other titles but I balance everything that i do with time management and my moods. Depending on what kinda mood i'm in determines on what i'll focus on at that specific moment in time but as a boss who wears many hats you have to know how to juggle & multi-task.

Po: Could you discuss your current project? I know you just dropped "F%@kMarkMilly-The Brief Tape". Any other projects on deck.

MM: Well 'F**k Mark Milly' was just a brief -tape, something to keep my name hot and on peoples mind. My next project which is an EP will be much more brief but straight to the point. Every track is produced by a young, up & coming producer from New Jersey who goes by the name of Probz. All the songs have a soulful feel to them and each will tell a story. We're releasing it on July 26th, heres some promo for it ::

Chaneblog: Something to Talk About

What's good everyone. Yea we in the midst of dropping that KING OF NEW TALK MIXYAPE. Pure fiyah, you already. Leading off that journey is the first LEAK track called "Something To Talk About". I was inspired to reference this song because of my mother, may she rest in peace. I recall this was one of her favorite records by Bonnie Rait. I thought about the statement the record made as well. And in reality, you have to give the people "something to talk about" to get noticed. You got to put the right words or have that catchy hook to get the attention of the listener. So what better way to capture that moment than by writing a song about it. Works for me! New talk is crazy. Just imagine Hd in wax. Pictures, referencing old and new situation, catch phrases, real hip hop shit. Going back to when niggas made you rewind to catch what he was saying. And at the same time, the tracks are crazy. Big ups to Mannie the Don for producing the album and also Po for overseeing marketing and promotion. So yea I hope you enjoy, feedback is appreciated and utilized. Be safe, and be well. UNO!
