Queen Latifah Exclusive! She Wants New Blood, Loves Drake! **RadioPlanet.tv**

Queen Latifah is one of the busiest people in show business, and almost every other business to boot! She sat down with DJ Whoo Kid and Reef at the Sirius studios to discuss her new album Persona, perfume, makeup, commercials, upcoming acting roles and more.

In this RadioPlanet.tv exclusive, the Queen talks working with Missy Elliott, Busta Rhymes, Mary J. Blige and others on the new album. She also asserts that in order to get some balance back in the game, she’ll have a new female rapper opening every show on her tour. And then came the real questions…

Is Diddy spying on her? Where was Serena Williams when Latifah was on set with Common? Why is she stuck on the digital cable song? Is she kicking any gangsta lyrics these days, Set It Off style? Why did she get her Bon Jovi on for Persona? Has she gone under the knife to maintain her youth? Why does she love Drake so much? Who else is she feeling in Hip Hop today? Why did Whoo Kid crush on the Queen?

You already know that no one is safe at Shade 45, so watch as Queen Latifah does what she wants!

Shock G: The G stands for GREEN (Blog with Shock G and Humpty )

"I'm Shock-Green, the one who put the broccoli in your pasta."

Over the years I've been actively trimming the fat from my lifestyle in an effort to shrink my environmental feetpreezy. Here's a few things I'm mad proud of:
Tell me if I qualify as green yet?

Since '05 I now recycle my trash at home, always, as a rule.

HUMPTY: "Me too! I drop her back at the same bar I found her."

Since '02 I stopped hot-rodding huge V8 gas-hogs and have driven little 4-bangers & V6's instead. When time permits, I park and use public transit; it's fun, and I get to people-watch. Many witnesses around Oakland and LA will testify that they've seen me on buses and trains for the entire 20 years that Digital Underground has existed. In one of my favorite Common verses he says, "Sometimes I take the bus home, just to touch home." Yup, me too.

HUMPTY: "No, you take the bus because “Kiss u Back” didn’t sell like “The Humpty Dance” did! AAH HA!
!

Since '06 I've stopped purchasing leather products, even ordered my new car (2010 V6 Camaro RS, 27 mpg HWY) with cloth interior rather than the much more pimpish leather buckets. This was a tough one for me!

Honestly, I still may occasionally wear a leather product, but only if I find it second-hand so that no additional animals were harmed. Soon I plan to not even do that.

HUMPTY: "Yeah, but that's cause you a broke-ass nigga!"

Since the beginning of Digital Underground, all of Humpty's fur coats and stage outfits have been faux fur, never real, not once. This includes:

-The white hat in the Humpty Dance video:

-The matching hat & long coat stage outfits from the early '90s stadium tours (We had 3 or 4 of these made by Western Costume in Hollywood; they also did Madonna and Michael Jackson's outfits):

- And of course the matching outfit from the Dan Akroyd movie:

HUMPTY: "Why you snitching on fools? STOP SNITCHIN!"

Since about '05 I've been using the "Seventh Generation" earth-friendly paper and cleaning products.

HUMPTY: "That's HELLA gay! I don't even know you any more dude!"

Since '04 I've converted to a meatless diet - vegetarian out in the world and full vegan at home. I might eat fish 5 or 6 times a year for the health-vital omega 3 oils, but that's it. No meat, milk, cheese, and no problems.
By the way, a vegetarian diet lowers a person's environmental footprint even more than driving a hybrid or recycling does and I do all three. Even a vegetarian who drives a huge old school V8 uses less planetary energy than a meat eater who drives a Prius and recycles. Here's a tight article about it:
http://michaelbluejay.com/veg/why.html

HUMPTY: "Yeah but you still eat vagina! How vegan is that?"

Over the years I'm constantly blogging and turning friends on about the golden reward in living green. You feel better, live longer, improve your karma and help save the world while you do it. It's a win-win-win-win.

HUMPTY: "Hypothetical, political, lyrical, miracle whip!"

ChaneBlog: Free Promotion

What's good people? I hope all is well. By now you know that marketing and promotion is the key to a successful anything. Well in addition to using avenues such as the internet, word of mouth, advertising, free promotion is also great! Years ago I was doing print ad work just to pay bills. And since the end of 08 and in 09 these ads have been poppin up all over the place. I have been in ads for Verizon, Bank of America, and most recently I was spotted in an ad for Con Edison. Pretty reputable companies too! Its a great look and the attention it has caused is kinda cool. I was recognized by people on the train while the ads have been plastered all over the very train I was on. Also, I received quite a few myspace friend requests as well. You never know when things will come to pass. So its really good to embrace new opportunities that may come yer way. My management team is working on endorsements as well, so keep ya fingers crossed. Lol, wish me luck if you believe in it. Cam'ron once said "The best nation is do-nation" and I feel the best promotion is free promotion. Lata ya'll!

Substance "Black Market" Album Review

If you’re a fan of music, especially hip-hop, then I’m sure you have not been happy with some of the stuff that you’ve heard lately. Video and radio shows have turned the game into a pay for play scenario where the well funded and well hyped are pushed down our throats while the truly talented fight amongst each other for spotlight.

But 2009 has brought forth a renaissance of sorts for the hip-hop world. New artists have emerged on the scene pushing music with feeling, passion and purpose. One of those artists is Michigan native Substance. His album “Black Market” is one more peace in the real hip-hop puzzle.

Backed by the production of Astronote, Young Blaise, Oddisee and Substance combines street corner poetry with a back-pack mentality.

His lead single “I Don’t Kno” showcases Substance at his best. Lost friends, fake friends and all those in between get addressed as he outlines his long road to the top. Lines like “You mean to tell me cause you knew me coming up, when I come up in the club then I own you a couple million hugs” give you a glimpse into the soul of an up and coming artists trying to keep it real at all times.

Promising that “this aint that bubble gum shit you used too” he pairs up with Boy Phresh to drop the street anthem “Husslin” The Chysty beat is reminiscent of the Clipse “Grinding” Substance and Phresh take a minimalist track and turns it into something worthy of replay value.

“Feels Good” ft D.O will remind some of early Slum Village material but Substance isn’t biting SV. He bounces effortlessly from bar to bar bragging that “I aint going far, you can catch me on the map like Onstar” Produced by Kosyne the soulful background adds to the diverse sound of “Black Market” overall

The albums stand-out track would have to be “Get What you Want” I agree with Substance about the song “This should be considered terrorist actions” The track really takes you back to the early 90’s when that boom bap sound was what you heard over the airwaves. Bar after bar, he bullys the beat. Thanks for Cutz for the scratches, it sounds like Preemo was resurrected.

“Black Market” is the perfect title for the LP. The disc seems like something that only a few in the know would know about. Make sure you’re one of the few to know what’s going on.

# 7 is my personal favorite :)

Throwback Friday: NES Play Action Football (1990)

NES Play Action Football was my bizz back in the day. The graphics might look wack but in the days of Nintendo they were on point. This game had better strategy and game-play than the 1989 release Tecmo Bowl. NES Play Action Football was re-released on the Nintendo Wii in 2007. I might have to cop a Wii just for this game..

Why did The Dream front on Ghost for his album? How did R.Kelly inspire him? What happened to the hawk? What about the mask? Who is he closest with in the Wu? ChaneBlog: Curve Balls

What's good everyone? I hope all is well. You know at this point, my music is getting recognized more and things are good. But not all good. Life is definitely throwing me curveballs right now, and its hard to get my A-Rod on, but I have to. At the moment, I'm having issues w/ fiance of six years and we have a son who will be two on Monday. I'm there for my child and I would have it no other way. I'm trying to do what's right, and does that mean compromising happiness. Also a friend of mines who I have known all my life is facing 10 years in prison and is leaving to do his time on Sept 22nd. What he did is irrelevant at this point and I let him know how I feel about it. It is what it is now! I hang out with him as much as I can in n effort to hold onto the great memories we've had over the years. He will get out God willing and everything will be good. But man I hate to see this happen to such a close friend. Lastly, my place of employment at the moment. I won't say the name, but let's just says its a major Telecommunications company is wearing on me. The schedule us grueling and the pay is ehh. Its pays the bills. My music was taking a backseat, but I got back into the full swing of things by doing some many videos and the mixtape lineup coming is crazy!!!! I am not an artist afraid to tell you what's going on. Music is the platform. These occurrences will most likely become songs....Lol. Until next time, lata! And be good.

"R.I.P. to FEMALE EMCEES" Eternia & MoSS - Road to Release: Ep#11 Ft. MC LYTE & JEAN GRAE

In Episode #11, Eternia provides a scathing critique of the "R.I.P. to All Female Emcees" media hype that recently surfaced. She builds with the legendary MC Lyte & Jean Grae, as all 3 ladies shut down the 'where are all the female emcees?' rhetoric that has run rampant. The episode also introduces two other emcees killing the game: True Daley & Nemiss, who murk the stage... and happen to be female. If Ya (claimed) Ya Don't Know... Now Ya Know.
