Chaneblog: Technical Difficulties

What's good everyone? I hope all is well! I have been having some technical difficulties lately, but things are back on track. I misplaced my phone. My blackberry as a matter of fact. I'm sorry to say that the phone is my lifeline, but it is. I lost all my contacts, thank God my information was backed up cause you never know. So I advise everyone to do that if you have that option. I been working on some new video concepts as well and very shortly I will be back in the lab finishing up several tapes before the new year is upon us. Also getting that CHANEMUSICK album wrapped as well. That's my second album and it will be an Itune release as well. Here's the link to my latest videos for you to check out as well. Until next time, be safe, and take care of yourselves! Uno!

From the Dirt: The Breadrin

Hailing from Charlotte NC with roots in Connecticut, The Breadrin
represent the new face of hip-hop. Multi-regional and multi-talented,
brothers Chemical and Justice along with long time friend Enforcer are
in the process of carving out their own niche in hip-hop and in the
south.

Chemical sat down to speak with Po Politickin to talk about how
the group came together and how they feel about the current hip-hop
scene.

How did the group The Breadrin come about?

We became about first, the Brothers (chemical &Justice) then became
the Breadrin after being joined with childhood friend the enforcer

What sets the group apart from other acts right now?

Reality, we refuse to talk about things that are far fetched from our
life, or lifestyle. everything you get from us is reality. It’s the
blood behind the words.

What are you working on right now as a group? Mixtape, album?

We Just finished “Everything or Nothing” vol.2 the mixtape, now we're
working on original music for our upcoming album..

Describe the voices of the group?

Working, on point and focused.. Enforcer is the heart of the group. He
keeps it 100 til the death! No matter what Enforcer is going to keep
it 100. And I'm the blood I keeps it flowing we all need each other
but at the same time we all play our part and each others part as well

What do you feel like the group can bring to the game different?

A breath of fresh air! We bring hunger, passion, and reality.

Talk about the Charlotte N.C scene. What's it like for artists in the
city? Is there support?

We get love Because everyone feels us. Getting on in Charlotte is like
pulling teeth. From day one the one's who have blown up that are from
here had to go outside of Charlotte and then come back. The support is
really thin. Its not a solid movement like u have in ATL or Texas or
Florida.

What do you feel about the industry right now? Do you feel like you
can fit in the current landscape?

It's hurting right now truthfully. Artists act like getting a little
money is the only reason for spitting, or getting in the game. There's
no love, only whatever sales you get or whatever is hot for the
moment. There's no long term commitments. I feel that we are what's
next and/or now in the game. We are what it needs. the truth, hunger
and passion in what we do is because we love it like it's our own
child so to speak we can get it In, but also fit in. How it is. Now.
not like we're like them puppets We Will always have Good lyrical
content.

Interview by: Mehka, edandchief of lastwordonline.net

I See Clearly: 20/20

Detroit is know for many things. Ford Motors and rampant crime are the first things to come to mind, but hip-hop isn’t too far behind.

Eminem and his D-12 crew might be the biggest names, but Trick-Trick, The Cheddar Boys and Fat Kat are some of the talented underground acts that really make the Motor City go.

Up next is 20/20 The 7 Mile native has a flow and style that resembles none other in the D. His single “Arrogant” has the potential to break big on the mixtape circuit while his own mixtape “My City Screamz” is earning him rave reviews.

Po Politickin got the exclusive with 20/20 to talk about his hip-hop influences, his style and why the game needs him

Po Politickin: State your name and where you’re from

20/20: I'm 20/20 from Detroit. I was always into hip hop so as a kid I listened to the Fat boys and Run DMC. My biggest influences are Biggie and Big L. I like Jay z too.

Po Politickin: What sets you apart from other emcees today?

20/20: What sets me apart is that I'm an Emcee and not a rapper. I hear a lot of singing in hip hop right now and its cool...but not what you'll hear from me.

Po Politickin: So what are you working on right now? Do you have a mixtape?

20/20: Right now I'm working on a mix tape called "In Hindsight". Its me doin my thing to some classic J. Dilla joints. Some 9th wonder joints and some original tracks. It’s the follow up to my "My city Screamz" mixtape. You can find that on Datpiff.com.

Po Politickin: Why do you think record sales are so low right now?

20/20: I think record sales are so slow because of the quality of music and the game is changing . It seems like we have one type of rap now because nobody is true to themselves. Everybody is just doin what's hot.

Po Politickin: Where will we see you at in a years time?

20/20: Hopefully this time next year I'll be signed to a major but the business has be right for that to happen.

Underground Sun Presents ... P MONEY

P Money was born to make music. Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan he was always into music. As a little kid in the 3rd grade he played an instrumental called the precorder. He went from that to playing clarinet when he got into the 4th grade. P Money was the best player in his school and would usually get picked for the solos. "My teacher would always come to me and ask me to do the solos for every school concert we did." P Money (real name Paul Taylor) was one of the best players in his entire school. As he went on to middle school there was no instrument program, which meant he had to find another form of music. "I loved playing instruments but when I realized I couldn't play any more I decided to go after something else."

Go after something else is exactly what he did. In the sixth grade he had a school project in his class that was for learning how to create and manage your own business. The class had to pick a job and get there business started around school. Many of the kids had jobs like cleaning services, nail care, and others but P Money knew what he wanted his business to be. "I wanted to do something with music so I decided my groups business would be a recording studio." His business was not a big success and did not turn out the way he wanted or had planned.

Still dedicated to his music P Money went to his mom for help. His mom had a friend who owned his own recording studio. He went to the studio for the first time and was really amazed by it. "As soon as I walked in the door I knew this was for me." After his first studio encounter he was really focused on writing songs. He went back and studied some of the classic albums made by people like Jay-Z, LL Cool J, and others. "My mom would have me listen to RUN DMC to study what kind of messages they were getting across." His favorite rapper is Jay-Z so he would really study and pay attention to Jay's flow.

After P Money developed his own style and became a good writer and freestyler he started rapping for his classmates at school. Going from table to table rapping for his peers was a lot of fun for him. He would rap for just about anyone who would listen to him. "I would go from person to person rapping even if they didn't want to hear me (laughs) I still rapped for them." As P Money gets older his flow develops with him. "I'm really trying to become the artist that I want to be and not what the industry thinks is a great artist, I find that most of the successful artist in the game became that way because they stayed true to themselves." Now as the self proclaimed Prince of Detroit P Money feels like he is ready for the next big step. He goes by a motto that sums up his determination that motto is "I Will Not Lose"

J The 'S' on My Chest: NEED VS WANT

I want some new Timbs for fall. My old joints look like bigfoot barrowed them for a marathon in the bayou.

I want this album, "The Last Days" do be done with. (closing in on the final stages of the mixing, ahhhh).

I want a new pinky ring cause I knocked one of the stones out in a fight (won the fight, lost a diamond out of a nice ring....who really lost?)

I want my mother to get some help for issue with drinking. Maybe "issue" is the wrong word.

Now these are all "wants". But what do I need? What do you need? what do WE REALLY NEED?

I mean, Timbs...I can afford those, it won't break me. But shit....J The S has plenty footwear. I mean, 40 pairs of shoes to a super-duper-sneaker-boutique rapper may seem shabby. But, point is...I GOT mad shoes (Adidas, timbs, Wallabees, Louis Vuitton, ect). I would love a new pair of Timbs, but I don't NEED them. Many people in this world..actually fuck that... we ain't gottta get into this "kids in Africa don't even have shoes" thing. SHIT! Kids in Boston in the hood don't even have shoes. (Save the backyard first, then the rest of the world). So if I got a few pairs, I don't NEED anymore. But I may WANT em. Yes, even J the S is a victim of Western Civilization's omnipotent powers of materialism fed to me with a Gucci spoon.

I WANT my new album, "The Last Days" done. And maybe I NEED it done also. I mean, its the biggest project of my budding carer, which has already drawn the atttention and interests of a few major lables. So you could say I do NEED it done, so I can shop it properly, release it, and let it do what it was meant to do, while at the same time sustain and further my career which feeds me. (Yes Music if my full time job). It's just been a year in the making, and as an artist, it's liberating to finish a project dear to your heart so you caan make an exodus from that realm into the next to create what must be new.

The pinky ring. Jewelry. Shine. Ahh yesss....a weakness. I love jewelry, and have some, not the most, but more than some. So do I WANT a new ring? Do Celtics fans want LeBron? Fuck yeah. But I don't NEED it. Nobody NEEDS jewelry. NOBODY.

My Mother. I owe so much to her, and I shall spare you the stories of her and I for your attention span's sake. Something to know about J the S...I am very hard on myself, very self-critical. I have done very much for my mother, but yet still feel bad, feel like not a good son at times, cause I can't for the life of me help to eradicate the pain in her life. I don't know anymore if my mother has a drinknig problem. I feel she as some probelms (we all do), and her way of dealing with them is drinking. Alot. Her recent long strecth of soberness brought a bright joy ot me, and everyone in her life. But therere it goes again. There she goes again. And I can't force this grown woman into rehab (I've tried). I've tried to get her to talk to someone. My therapist has been one of the most helpful elemenst in my recent years. Maybe when we face our problems, and the roots of them, we can shake off the unneeded vices we use to mask them. Self-Confrontation is scary. I WANT this, and I NEED this. And so does she. And so do WE. WE NEED to differentiate between what we really want, and what we need, and most importantly, what WE NEED TO DO to make this happen. Achieve through action, never through agrument.

Your comrade & brethren,
J the S

ChaneBlog: Paying Dues/Quality Time

What's good everyone. I hope all is well. I been grinding, you already. Got a few projects on hold because my producer has to get his system upgraded. But still been actively spitting in the hood and networking in NYC. I'm still paying dues basically. And you never actually stop if " sky is the limit" is your motto. You already.... So I still got three more mixtapes coming. They are tentatively titled Radio Ready, Futurama, Channed Down. You never know though, things change so quickly. Other than that the Chanemusick is still being released. Also if you haven't copped it already, check out my first album To Make A Long Story Short. Its on Itunes and Amazon.com as well. Also check for my dudes album called Trouble on the Way. His name is Sky 7th. He hails from Cleveland 0hio. Google his name and get more information

What's good people? I hope all is well. It seems like I haven't blogged in ages. I been taking it easy. Made some moves. Transitioned to another job. Mended my relationship with my fiancé and even began being just more communicative in general. Still unrest lies in my mental. My homeboy is going to jail for 9 years and he leaves on Monday, September 20th. I can't discuss his case, but let's say its crazy. They called a crime of passion and no female got injured, let's just say. Also my fiancé had a hernia removed. Ouch, I know. Pain like hell and no real appetite as well. I been doing the best I can in addition to having some heart to heart talks with her in regards to us and life in general. I learned a lot that I didn't know even we been a couple for six years now. Great stuff! Quality time is important, no matter how you fit into your own schedule. Take it from me. I should know. Be well and safe also. Lata!
