Chaneblog: Not On The Same Page

I tried to take on other members but things didnt work out. It is important to have people pn yer team that are on the same page. When someones thinking outside of the box of the team, the focus isnt there in order to initiate business. Its better to have a smaller team than no team at all. Strength is in numbers by far but Attila the Hun was four feet tall and was a dictator as well. So it can be done if not better with a small number. As time goes on and business gets better, of course team members are taken whether it be for advertising, graphic design, or music , they will be carefully evaluated and whats best for the business at the time will get done. Just a word from the wise and I dont know it all. I learn something new everyday and thats a blessing. Lata!

Kokane "Killing Fields" (Video)
Kokane is one of the West Coast's chief architects, from his rise as a solo-artist on Eazy-E's Ruthless Records and Snoop Dogg's Dogghouse Records, to his work with Above The Law and his countless guest appearances (Kokane is the most featured artist in the world---do the research) as his voice has been featured on over 35 million record sales over the course of his storied career (there is a reason they call him the hook master). From Dre, Snoop, Ice Cube, 50 Cent, Jadakiss, Eazy-E, Xzibit, Spice 1, Too Short, George Clinton, Boosty Collins, NWA, Young Buck etc, Kokane has lent his vocals to some of Hip-Hop's most acclaimed projects.
You know the voice, now get ready to know Kokane (again)! Armed with a new LP, Gimme All Mine, which will drop on 6-1-10 (on his own Bud E Boy Records in conjunction with Bonzi/Fontana) Kokane is back and sounding better then ever.

Dominique Larue x Idasa Tariq x DJBooth Presents "HerStory" EP

Dominique's goal with this project is to let people know that life is more than what TV tells us and to learn about HerStory or Their Story or Your Story or Our Story, we know enough about His Story. But don't get it twisted, this project is not a HerStory lesson, Larue just wants to get a couple things off her chest and encourage people to broaden their horizons. Please be advised that you are in for a treat with HerStory.

Eternia & MoSS ft. Joell Ortiz - It's Funny (Prod. By MoSS) AUDIO

"AT LAST" is entirely produced by MoSS (DJ Premier's production partner) and features appearances by some of Hip-hop’s elite: Joell Ortiz, Termanology, Reef The Lost Cauze, Tona, Maestro Fresh Wes, Rage, Rah Digga & Jean Grae. Eternia is at her finest over MoSS’ production, offering raw, confidant & vulnerable first-person perspectives over gritty and moving soundscapes. "AT LAST" promises to resonate in a musical arena where most rap albums fail to deliver beyond a ring-tone single.

Snoop Dog "Malice in Wonderland" (Film Review)

Since his debut in the early nineties as a member of the legendary Death Row records, Snoop made a name for himself with through his nasally flow, dynamic lyrical ability and entertaining persona. Whether its movies or CDs, Snoop has maintained a presence in the hip-hop world.
His recent album “Malice in Wonderland” was met to rave reviews and sales. But don’t think that the Doggfather is ever satisfied. As the buzz for the “Malice in Wonderland” album cools, he hopes that the film version heats things back up.
Snoop takes a break from playing his usual roles (Pimp, reincarnated pimp or gangster) as he has many times before in films to play a super-hero for his new role and project.
A combination of Thriller, Sin City and Crush Groove, “Malice in Wonderland” showcases Snoops . Starring as Malice an anti-hero who lives in the dark underground of the city of “Wonderland” his Nemesis Caine (played by Hawthorne James of ‘5 Heartbeats Fame’”) Caine has taken over the city, running on a platform of ‘change’” Part of this change is removing Malice from the city.
When it looks like Caine and his followers would take over the city, Malice goes into action, partnering up with a slew of hip-hop and mainstream stars like Soulja Boy Tell’em, Michael Coylar, Jaimie Foxx, Diplo, Xzibit, Dj Quick and more to fight the take over.
The movie plays out as smoothly as its accompanying soundtrack “More Malice” does. Songs like “Pronto” featuring Soulja Boy and “Up-Side-Down” ft. Nippsey Hussle and Problem adds humor to the movie while “I Wanna Rock” ft. cameos by Jaimie Foxx and others
Snoop Dog doesn’t need a fountain of youth in order to stay alive in this world of Mp3’s and Itunes as long as he continues to out think his opponents. “Malice in Wonderland” is another trick that this old dog has mastered.

Artist Spotlight: G.Q. Bugs

GQ was born in the Bronx, and raised in Spanish Harlem. GQ knew he wanted to be a rapper when he first heard AZ's verse off of Nas's "Life's a B****" track from the 'Illmatic' album. He later moved to Kingston, New York, where his older cousin exposed him to an actual music studio at the age of 15.
In 2002 GQ formerly known as "Bugsy" went to the next level and came out with a music project called "The Coalition". Shortly after, GQ came out with another music project called 'The Wait is Over' with childhood friend/fellow rapper Cezar Capone and formed T.C.U. . After the success of the two independent releases, GQ decided to take his solo career to the next level by dropping a mixtape called 'Street Monopoly Vol. 1.' "This had much success and got me a strong fan base," GQ said. The mixtape led to fans following him on the Internet and a spot in Source Magazine's June 2009 Spit 16 series. In addition, GQ has also had the opportunity to show his versatility by modeling in XXL's October 2008's Jay-z Edition.
His forthcoming mixtape The Transition is set to drop on the 26th of January 2010; with tracks such as “Black Out” and “Hiatus”, it will blow Hip Hop fans away. “I called the mixtape the transition, because I play a lot of diff roles with my music," GQ said. "I'm my own manager, artist, fan, and hustler. I play a lot of diff roles so its like the transition from one to the other, and its also saying I am in transition from an up and coming to a star. “
With his different variables of music, GQ manages to paint a picture with his lyrics. "I do music to see how many people think like me," he said. "For example, when someone says one of my raps is crazy because they were thinking that same thing in they head, or when they feel they are the only person who thinks something is popping, and then I say it in a rhyme, it brings validation that I'm connecting with the people".

SoulStice- "Strange Kind Of Love" (Video)
New video from SoulStice, but rather then let me explain it, who better then SoulStice himself.
""Strange Kinda Love" is a song about universal love and tolerance. Since it was originally released, it's won 4 songwriting contests, including the Billboard World Song Contest. In it, I reflect on my experience as part of an interracial couple and recall that it wasn't long ago that my wife and I couldn't have gotten married in the US. Today's "free love" struggle centers around the LGBT community and same-sex marriage. I'm happy to report that since I wrote this song, 5 states and the District of Columbia now issue same-sex marriage licenses and 5 more provide equivalent spousal rights. We've got a long way to go, but we're moving in the right direction."

Wordsmith "Tour Guide To New Bride" (Video)
Nu Revolution Entertainment would like to present Wordsmith' new UK single/video, "Tour Guide To New Bride" directed by D-Dot Films. This is the second single on his debut album "Vintage Experience" in stores March 30th. This single is a break from the regular commercial Hip-Hop singles as it conveys a unique story to the listener. With a catchy hook, his lyrics and storytelling ability allow you not only dance in a club, but also get a kick out of how witty the song was put together.
"Vintage Experience" is broken up into 4 chapters with unique scores and plays out like a "Movie on Wax." The material, in general, ranges from songs Wordsmith wrote/recorded from 2006 to 2009 with all the production coming from in-house producers Strada, Professa, Capish and Street Level. The features were kept to a minimum with only Chubb Rock, Camp-Lo, Grand Daddy I.U., Soulstice, Kontact & Black Knight and local DMV stars Kimia Collins and Whitefolkz lending verses on the album.

New Jack City: Young Nino

Add one more name to that mix. Life time Atlanta resident Young Nino and Stack Money Entertainment have blazed a trail through the “A” but their not stopping there. Refusing to limit themselves to Georgia, you can see the Stack Money Ent. Label everywhere from the Carolinas and Virginia all the way down to Florida.
We caught up with Young Nino in North Carolina while he was promoting his single “Crazy Over You”. Popolitickin caught with Nino to talk about his new single, his label and what its like to be an indie artist today.
Popolitickin: How did you get into hip-hop?
Young Nino: I got into hip hop at an early age, it’s in my blood! Being from Atlanta and the south, hard rhymes and banging beats is a part of the Southern culture. You can’t help but to vibe and ride to the music. And it’s not just a south thing; the whole world is feeling us!
Popolitickin: Who were some of the artists who influenced you?
Young Nino: I was influenced by the greats. 2pac and Biggie are still my favorite artist and N.W.A. was nothing but the truth! Being down south, I was heavily influenced by Rap – A - Lot Records, Scarface, UGK, R.i.p. Pimp C, 8ball & MJG , P and No Limit Records, and of course one of the dopest groups ever..Outkast!
Popolitickin: Who is Young Nino? Describe your style for those who haven’t heard you yet?
Young Nino: My sound is Southern but it’s unique at the same time. What separates me from a lot of artist is that honestly, everybody wants to be hard, gangsta, and so called trap stars when they know they lying! I just do me. I’m laid back and cool as fan. It reflects in my music as being a real super cool dude that people can relate to. But please believe, I can pop things off if it needs to go there!
Popolitickin: Talk about your new single.
Young Nino: Currently we are pushing my single which is a big record “Crazy Over U”. It’s on the radio throughout the south and continuously growing! It’s available for purchase on all digital download sites. You know Amazon.., Cd Baby, Napster, Music, etc. The video to “Crazy Over U” is online too; people can check that out on YouTube... Stay tuned homie...there is plenty more to come!
Popolitickin: Talk about being an indie? What are some of the benefits and drawbacks to being an indie right now?
Young Nino: Being Indie is cool. Everything has its ups and downs at times. I love being my own boss and making moves when I want to make them. The down side to being an indie artist is not having that machine behind you that can get you directly on the major market radio stations and big video channel outlets. As an indie you have to grind super hard because we all know the majors have the budget to control what we hear on the radio and see on Television.
Popolitickin: With your indie success, are you still looking at major labels?
Young Nino: Major labels are definitely on the radar. I have some very impressive numbers and a great story behind my record and my movement, just Google me. Big things are on the horizon, so get ready!
Popolitickin: What advice would you give to an artist coming up right now?
Young Nino: Stay on your grind and go super hard. Be focused on your goals and don’t let anyone or anything stand in your way.
Check out Young Nino and Stack Money Ent. myspace.com/youngninodadon, facebook.com/youngninodadon, and be sure to follow me on twitter. Twitter.com/youngninodadon.

Open Doors: Gates

Now with a strong team and new goals, Gates is ready to break out the gates and place his name among the best freshman in hip-hop.
Popolitickin.com caught up with the up and comer Gates to talk about how he got into hip-hop, his influences and his music.
Popolitickin: How did you get into hip-hop?
Gates: Been doing it since 3rd grade. I did a contest back in the day and I did well. People liked it and it kinda just stuck with me from there
Popolitickin.com: A lot of people start off thinking this will be their career, and then they fall off. What kept you going?
Gates: Seeing the feedback. It’s been from the point where people started asking me if I had material or anything to buy.
Popolitickin.com: What do you have coming down the pipes right now?
Gates: A couple of things. EP coming in March follows up to the “Cook-up Season.” Part 1 is online now
Popolitickin.com: Describe your style for those who haven’t heard you yet?
Gates: I’m from Virginia. I sound southern. Music wise, I put together good wordplay and metaphors. Make songs that you can party to and are still lyrical
Popolitickin.com: What’s it like being an indie artist right now?
Gates: It’s tough. I knew people who were signed when they did artist development. Now you have to create your own buzz, put out your own video. Being an indie, it’s a little easier to do with the internet now. It’s easier to compete
Popolitickin.com: What about the majors? Are you looking for a major deal?
Gates: Right now I’m in grind mode. If a major came with the right deal, then we can do something. If they came right I wouldn’t turn it down

Rico Paysos Break Bread In Studio Performance (Video)
Rico Paysos In-Studio Performance of Break Bread off The Addiction: Diary of a Microphone Fiend narrated by DJ VLAD hosted by Mo Money Mixtapes
Voice of Reason: Myko

Wonder no longer. Atlanta native Myko has staked his claim as one of the few artists who understand what R&B means and strives to give that true soul sound to the world. Like so many other great R&B acts Myko found his voice while singing in church. After finding his voice, he hit the open mic’s and showcases through out the “A” building a name as a star on the rise.
Myko talked with Popolitickin.com about how he got into performing, how he feels about the current R&B scene.
Popolitickin.com: When did you know that this would be your career?
Myko: Participating in church and choir, I knew I would do this in my life early. Music was always in my household. Music was always part of my life. My father was a deacon in church. He was like, “I’m not going to tell you what to do” He would play groups like the Stylistics and acts like that to se how I would react to it. That was the music I ended up leaning towards. God is still part of my life.
Popolitickin.com: Describe your style for those who haven’t heard you yet.
Myko: My style is very edge. I’m kind of like the early R&B. I might belt out a smooth accapella just to show that I can really sing. I feel like you have to give fans something to make them remember and when you come out and show you can sing, they walk away remembering that.
Popolitickin.com: I know you are signed to SRC right now.
Myko: We have a situation with SRC/Universal right now. Currently we have Interscope and Jive looking at us. It’s always about trying to find a better situation for yourself. We started out with a good deal and now we’re working to see if we could find a better one. Let my work speak for itself, I’m going to grind

Myko: I feel like you have to. Until you drop an album you have to stay relevant. There are people who gave me a chance when I was still coming up and if they asked me to come out I would with no question. People like P. Brown, Tony Neal; they showed a lot of love for me early so if they ever called up and asked me to come out for a showcase then they got me.
Popolitickin.com: Who are some of your inspirations?
Myko: My father brought music into my life at an early age. I still hear him in my ear. That’s my number 1 inspiration. Behind that, Donnie Hathaway and Minnie Ripperton. I feel like he never got his just due.
Popolitickin.com: Do you feel like R&B is dying musically?
Myko: I don’t want to say that. People have grown, things are going to change. We will get back to the day. I’m not upset with auto-tune. That’s the way of the world. Things change all the time. If everything was the same, then it would be very boring.
I’m more R&B. It’s hard to put R&B into a box because you can hear so many different styles. There’s some R&B that’s really pop. I do the things that I feel. I’m still singing. Trey Songz, Usher, Musiq, they are still singing.
Popolitickin.com: So what's next for you?
Myko: We just dropped the mixtape “Pardon the Interruption” I got more product. Release a new single. Were testing the market. Dabbling in writing for others. I went out to the Grammys and got a chance to network with some good people. Look forward to hearing some new sounds from me. Don’t be shocked if you hear my next single on 95.5 and not 107.5 (laughs)
